The Circuit Clerk position is an elected one, voted on by the people of Kankakee County. It is a constitutional office and part of the 21st Judicial Branch of Illinois, including Iroquois County. Our offices are located in the Kankakee County Courthouse.
As the official record keeper of the court files, the circuit clerk is part of the administrative arm of the judicial branch of government. We also collect fines and assessments ordered by the court, to be disbursed accordingly.

Kankakee County Circuit Clerk is undergoing a computer conversion this week. We will be modifying some of our business practices Tuesday, Sept 17-22, 2024, and will go live with the new system Monday Sept 23, 2024. Credit Card Payments Will Be Unavailable
The Circuit Clerk is unable to take credit card payments starting Sept 17, 2024 through Sept 22, 2024. It will be back online Sept 23, 2024. Payments of cash, money order or cashier’s check will be accepted at the courthouse during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.
EFile Will Be Unavailable
The Circuit Clerk is unable to accept efiling that has fees starting Sept 17, 2024 through Sept 22, 2024. It will be back online Sept 23, 2024. Filing documents and documents with fees may be accepted in the courthouse with payment of cash, money order or cashier’s check during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.
